Golden Globes 2013: Tina Fey and Amy Poehler do first show promo

Share

For the last three years, the Golden Globes have been worshiping at the altar of Ricky Gervais, who always showed up, beer in hand, to rib, mock and belittle the celebrities gathered to accept awards. This year’s ceremony, with co-hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, promises to be a return to a different type of hosting style -- one that’s a little goofier and much less mean.

Or as Fey says in their first aired promo for the ceremony, “We’re so excited we’ll be talking in classic Hollywood voices for all our banter!”

That’s fun for less than 30 seconds, as Fey and Poehler both discover in the spot.

Fey and Poehler are both pulling double duty this year; each are hosts and nominees. Fey grabbed her sixth best actress nod in a TV series, comedy or musical for “30 Rock” (she’s won twice before), while Poehler landed her second nomination for “Parks and Recreation.” Both NBC comedies are in the middle of their final seasons on the air.

The duo, who have been friends since their days together at Second City in Chicago, will practice their hosting skills during the Globes ceremony at the Beverly Hilton on Jan. 13.
