Angelina Jolie goes viral: She has chicken pox

Angelina Jolie has gone viral. Yup, the “Unbroken” director has chicken pox.

And if coming down with chicken pox as an adult wasn’t bad enough, the timing of the illness also means she’s going to miss some events to promote her new film, she said in a video posted Friday.

“I just wanted to be clear and honest about why I will be missing the ‘Unbroken’ events in the next few days,” she explained, presumably to head off wild speculation.

The mother of six (it’s probably a miracle she has gone this long without exposure to the disease!) said she will be “home, itching, and missing everyone.”

“But such is life, there it is,” she concluded. “And, um, send everyone my love and hope everything goes well.”

Jolie got the chicken pox news Thursday night -- after she had what looked to be an uncomfortable face-to-face with Sony exec Amy Pascal at an event Wednesday morning. Uncomfortable because on Tuesday, leaked emails revealed Pascal had talked about “the insanity and rampaging spoiled ego of this woman” in an email exchange with fellow honcho Scott Rubin.

Rubin, in turn, dubbed Jolie a “marginally talented spoiled brat.” Coincidentally, chicken pox is known primarily as a childhood disease.

“Unbroken” opens in theaters Christmas Day.
