Kanye gives Kim Kardashian a custom purse; did she want a BlackBerry?

Kim Kardashian seems to have a penchant for custom purses and BlackBerry smartphones.

The “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star revealed her proclivity to each item at various events this week just after celebrating her 34th birthday.

Speaking with E! News and People just before her birthday festivities at Tao Las Vegas over the weekend, the Kardashian Kollection designer revealed that her husband, rapper Kanye West, enlisted their 16-month-old daughter, North West, in the creation of her birthday present: a hand-painted Hermes bag.

“Kanye had a box, a purse, this Hermes purse, and I opened it, and I thought it was so cool. It was all painted really cool, and then there was my computer [next to it], and it said, ‘Press play,’” she told the mag.

“I pressed play and my daughter was sitting outside painting the purse,” she continued. “I thought it was an artist that painted the purse, some custom thing. I thought it was some new artist, and it was my daughter. It was amazing, and I have it all on video.”

The “Yeezus” rapper seems to have a taste for the customized luxury items: At Christmas, he gifted his then-fiancee with an Hermes Birkin that was hand-painted by artist George Condo.

Sure, bags make great gifts, but on Monday the app maker revealed that there’s something that is much dearer to her. It turns out the reality star is single-handedly trying to resuscitate the embattled BlackBerry, admitting that she hoards the decreasingly popular smartphones.

Kardashian, who does use an iPhone for social media and photos, said she’d buy BlackBerry-maker RIM if she could because she loves the keyboard on their now-antiquated phones for sending “furious” emails.

“I buy them on EBay. It’s a Bold, it’s the BlackBerry Bold. I have, like, three lined up in my room ... so that if one breaks and I’m down to two, I search on EBay until I find that third,” she said at the Re/Code’s Code/Mobile conference. “I have anxiety that I will run out.... I’m afraid it will go extinct. I’m on a mission to make that not happen.”

In other outdated news, a RadarOnline report surfaced on Monday and cited court documents from her long-running divorce from NBA player Kris Humphries. The documents illuminated the former sex-tape star’s business dealings and exactly how much she banked from her wedding special on E! and exclusive with People magazine. (Hint: It’s a lot.)

Kardashian is said to be worth an estimated $65 million, so, really, she could buy all the antique BlackBerry and defaced Hermes bags she wants.
