Kristen Stewart lands a new gig; Robert Pattinson still missing?

Any concern over Kristen Stewart’s career after her cheating scandal with director Rupert Sanders can be put to rest: The actress has landed a cool new role.

As for the whereabouts of a jilted Robert Pattinson? Different story.

Stewart has snagged the part of Peyton Loftis in an adaptation of William Styron’s “Lie Down in Darkness,” a doozy of a dark novel that sees its main character dealing with the erosion of her ‘50s-era family.

Originally coveted by Jennifer Lawrence, the part will see Stewart’s Peyton struggling with a “Baby Jane”-style sibling relationship with a crippled sister, a cold and jealous matriarch and a drunk (and incestuous) father.

Meanwhile, the steady flow of Pattinson news that isn’t news continues to roll in. We at the Ministry discussed exactly where the heartthrob was hiding out, as one report said Reese Witherspoon had offered up her Ojai retreat as a safe house, then another said he’d been there but had moved on.

Thursday comes news that, gasp!, he’s no longer at Chez Witherspoon but is actually still at large.

One ray of light: At least we’ll hear from him in the days leading to the Aug. 17 premiere of “Cosmopolis”— and according to Radar Online, Stewart may have heard a bit from him already.
