Queen Elizabeth II visits ‘Game of Thrones’ sets, actors in Belfast

Queen Elizabeth II visited the “Game of Thrones” sets in Belfast on Tuesday, taking a good look around but stopping short of trying out the HBO series’ notorious Iron Throne for herself.

“She kept commenting on how uncomfortable the throne looked,” Maisie Williams, the 17-year-old who plays Arya Stark, told the Associated Press. “That was funny.”

Seriously, does the lady look like someone who’d hop on up there and take a selfie for Facebook? We think not.

At Titanic Studios, a handful of “Thrones” actors in addition to Williams met with the 88-year-old monarch as part of her three-day tour of Northern Ireland with husband Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

Kit Harington (Jon Snow) and Rose Leslie (Ygritte) were there along with Lena Headey, who as Cersei Lannister on “Thrones” was once a queen herself.

“I don’t think I’ve ever been as nervous to meet anybody,” Headey told the AP.

Co-creators David Benioff and Dan Weiss, whose series is the biggest TV production ever mounted in Europe, showed off various sets where interior scenes and those dangerous-looking ascents of the icy Wall are captured.

The queen was given a miniature replica of the Irone Throne as a souvenir.
