WATCH: Coldplay performs in Grant Park at Lollapalooza 2011!

While you were losing your mind at Girl Talk (more on that later), one of the world’s few remaining megabands took to the Bud Light stage on the north end of Grant Park.

Coldplay opened with a wild laser light show. It didn’t last long enough for some, a guy near me kept yelling MORE LASERS! when the band slowed things down towards the middle of their set.

Call me whatever you want, music experts - I’m a Coldplay fan. There’s something about their music that connects with me. Unfortunately I was working yesterday, so I couldn’t camp out as close to the stage as I would have liked. But the band sounded great from the way back, and Chris Martin even acknowledged all of us far away little people. Squee!
