Quick Takes: Charlie Sheen on tour

Not content to simply broadcast “Sheen’s Korner” from Sober Valley Lodge, Charlie Sheen has announced that he’s going out on the road with a live tour called “My Violent Torpedo of Truth/Defeat Is Not an Option Show.”

Sheen tweeted that he’ll kick off the tour on April 2 at Fox Theatre Detroit. Under “show details,” Ticketmaster lists a description that reads in part: “This IS where you will hear the REAL story from the Warlock. Bring it. I dare you to keep up with me.”

This has been an eventful week for the actor, who was axed from CBS’ “Two and a Half Men,” filed a $100-million lawsuit against Warner Bros. and “Men” co-creator Chuck Lorre, and had his house raided by police.

Hatch ordered back to prison

Reality TV star Richard Hatch was ordered back to prison Friday to serve a nine-month sentence for failing to pay taxes on the

$1 million he won on the first season of the hit CBS show “Survivor.”

Hatch, who is currently appearing on NBC’s “The Celebrity Apprentice,” spent more than three years in prison for tax evasion before being released in 2009 and has been serving a three-year term of supervised release. During that period, he was supposed to refile his 2000 and 2001 taxes and pay what he owed, but he never did.

U.S. District Court Judge William Smith on Friday said Hatch, who has strenuously maintained his innocence, had exhibited no remorse and had made no effort to comply with an order that he straighten out and pay his taxes.

Hatch, who lives in Newport, R.I., was ordered to report for his prison term on Monday.

NBC said 11 of 12 episodes of “Celebrity Apprentice,” which features 16 celebrities competing for charities, have already been taped. The finale, which ordinarily features the last two contenders and a winner chosen, is scheduled to air on May 22.

‘Biebermania’ hits Liverpool

Move over, Beatlemania. “Biebermania” hit the home town of the famous Fab Four when a noisy crowd of fans descended on central Liverpool to catch a glimpse of teenage singing sensation Justin Bieber.

In scenes reminiscent of the hysteria that met the Beatles wherever they went in the early 1960s, police were called in Thursday to control a large crowd of girls that had gathered outside the Hard Days Night Hotel where Bieber was staying.

The 17-year-old Canadian pop star was in Liverpool to perform in concert Friday evening.

Katie Couric fielding offers

With her contract expiring in early June, Katie Couric is now fielding offers from other networks besides CBS and weighing new options, including a possible daytime talk show that could help fill the void left by Oprah Winfrey.

According to a source familiar with Couric’s plans, the evening-news anchor has been courted by NBC Universal and Time Warner, as well as CBS, to discuss the possibility of a syndicated talk show.

CBS declined to comment, but during a recent address at the University of Texas, CBS Corp. chief Les Moonves suggested that if Couric stayed on with CBS News, she would have to take a pay cut. “The Katie Couric deal will be the last, big deal of that kind ever done,” he said, blaming loss of revenue. “Those days are over.”

Couric’s spokesman, Matthew Hiltzik, declined to comment, except to say, “Katie is grateful for the interest, but she hasn’t yet made any decisions about her future.”

Ne-Yo’s show on Cartoon channel

Ne-Yo has written many hit songs — and now he’s taking writing to a new level.

The Grammy winner said in an interview Friday that he closed a deal with Cartoon Network to produce his own show, “I Heart Tuesdays.”

It’s about “a 16-year-old girl that inherits the curse of her bloodline and she’s forced to save the world from the unknown evil every Tuesday for the rest of her life,” he said.

‘Spider-Man’ to be overhauled

Producers of Broadway’s troubled “Spider-Man” musical said Friday the show would shut down for a few weeks in the spring for an overhaul.

Lead producers Michael Cohl and Jeremiah J. Harris said that “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark” would officially open June 14. The show has been in previews for more than 100 performances and has delayed opening six times.

They had said earlier this week that a new writer and director were coming aboard.
