Giuliana and Bill Rancic are expecting their first baby

Bill and Giuliana Rancic, whose struggles with fertility have been well documented on their reality show, “Giuliana & Bill,” had some good news to share Monday: They’re expecting a baby.

“It’s incredible,” Giuliana said on the “Today” show. “We’ve been trying for so long, we’ve been through so much, and, especially we just had such a hard year last year with the breast cancer and everything and to finally get that call from the doctor of, you’re pregnant -- or, you’re having a baby!

“I’m not quite pregnant, but you know what I mean, we’re pregnant!,” the bubbly red carpet host said. “It was just, it was another world, on another level.”

The happy news comes thanks in part to a third party: the gestational carrier who is now carrying their biological child, due in late summer.

“I call her my baby mama too; I love that,” said Giuliana, who is still recovering from breast cancer that was discovered as she prepped for another round of fertility treatments. The E! red carpet host had a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery at the end of last year.

Bill’s “year of the Rancics” was never anything they took for granted, they said. Two embryos were implanted in the womb of the woman she described as “a dream come true,” and one of them took.

“This was our last stop,” Bill said. “I mean, this was it. We had these two embryos that we had banked prior to learning about the breast cancer, and, with the medicine she’s going on, this was our last effort. So the prayers were answered.”

Giuliana and Bill -- who met in 2004 when she interviewed him after he won “The Apprentice” but didn’t start dating until he asked her out after a second interview at an event a couple of years later -- were married in 2007.
