Russell Brand: Perfectly cast as Captain Hook for Disney ad
Russell Brand has a campy new role, but don’t expect it in theaters. He’s one of photographer Annie Leibovitz’s muses in the latest Disney Parks ad campaign.
Perfectly realized as Peter Pan’s nemesis Captain Hook, Brand joins a long line of celebs including David Beckham, Beyonce, Tina Fey and Julianne Moore portraying famous Disney characters.
Perched over the ferocious snappers of a massive crocodile, Brand is part of a series that also includes Jack Black, Will Ferrell and Jason Segel playing Phineas, Ezra and Gus, the “Hitchhiking Ghosts” from the Disney Parks’ Haunted House attractions.
“There are similarities between me and Captain Hook in that I am an Eton-educated, piratical buccaneer living on the high seas stealing and robbing and loathing the perpetual innocence and childhood of Pan,” Brand said, according to Us Weekly.
“Peter Pan! Oh, how I hate him!”
Brand is currently airing his summer talk show “Brand X,” and fun outings with the likes of the Dalai Lama. Don’t believe us? Watch below.
