Bethenny Frankel feels she’s gone from fairy tale to failure, and she’s really busted up about it.

The reality-TV star, Skinny-girl businesswoman and future talk-show maven kept a date on Ellen DeGeneres’ show Wednesday in the wake of her split from Jason Hoppy, despite the host’s ability to produce a pile of gossip mags that had her guest on the cover.

“I can’t just only be on reality TV and show everything when it’s the fairy-princess fairy tale and then not take my hits when I have to,” Frankel said. “I’ve had kind of the best-worst year ever. So I have to -- it’s the highs and the lows.”

She said dealing with a personal situation while getting so much public attention about it was “a very surreal thing.”

Frankel, emotional from the moment she sat down, wasn’t able to hold back tears entirely.

“I feel like a bit of a disappointment to all of you, and I feel like a failure. ... I feel like a failure, I really put it out there, I wanted the fairy tale, I thought I had it ... I don’t know how people go through this because this is excruciating, I have to say.”

After announcing her separation Dec. 23, Frankel filed for divorce from Jason Hoppy last week in New York. She’s asking for what looks like a lot, according to TMZ: primary physical custody of their 2-year-old daughter Bryn, child support, life insurance, exclusive occupancy of their home and medical, dental, vision and orthodontic care for her and Bryn.

Sounds like it’s half divorce, half benefits package, but a source close to Frankel told TMZ this is just a “preliminary step to move the process forward,” and that the former “Real Housewives of New York” star really wants to work things out privately and amicably.

She’s worth at least $25 million, the website said, and the couple also has a prenup.
