‘Brooklyn,’ ‘Cinderella,’ ‘Mad Max’ and ‘Star Wars’ are nominated for Costume Designers Guild Awards

“Brooklyn,” “Cinderella,” “Mad Max: Fury Road” and “Crimson Peak” were among the nominees announced Thursday morning for the 18th Costume Designers Guild Awards, which celebrate excellence in feature film, television and short form costume design.

The feature film nominations are divided into three categories: excellence in contemporary film, period film and fantasy film.

Vying in the contemporary film category are Jenny Eagan for “Beasts of No Nation,” Michael Wilkinson for “Joy,” Arianne Phillips for “Kingsman: The Secret Service,” Janty Yates for “The Martian” and Carlo Poggioli for “Youth.”

Nominees for period film are Odile Dicks-Mireaux for “Brooklyn,” Sandy Powell for “Carol,” Kate Hawley for “Crimson Peak,” Paco Delgado for “The Danish Girl” and Daniel Orlandi for “Trumbo.”

Contenders in the fantasy film category are Sandy Powell for “Cinderella,” Sammy Sheldon Differ for “Ex Machina,” Kurt and Bart for “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay -- Part 2,” Jenny Beavan for “Mad Max: Fury Road” and Michael Kaplan for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”

Among the nominees in the television categories are “American Horror Story: Hotel,” “Empire,” “The Knick,” “Mad Men,” “Game of Thrones” and “The Wiz Live!”

As previously announced, Cate Blanchett is this year’s recipient of the Lacoste Spotlight Award and Quentin Tarantino will receive the Distinguished Collaborator Award.

The winners of the Costume Designers Guild Awards will be announced Feb. 23 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
