Janelle Monae put on vocal rest; postpones Anaheim show, 2 others

Janelle Monáe has postponed a handful of shows, including Tuesday’s gig at the House of Blues in Anaheim.

The electric soul-funk singer took to her website Tuesday to inform fans that she was on strict doctor’s order for vocal rest.

“Unfortunately, this diagnosis means I will have to postpone my coming concerts in Anaheim, San Diego and Phoenix, a fact which truly leaves me heartsick and shaken because I live for this: connecting with you and giving you a one of a kind concert experience,” she wrote.

“But alas, apparently even the most expertly designed android breaks down sometimes and must recharge...”

She was scheuled to play San Diego on Wednesday and Phoenix on Thursday.

Monáe brought her Electric Lady tour to a sold-out Club Nokia on Saturday.

No information has been released yet on when the dates will be made up.
