Christina Aguilera sets off explosive ‘Your Body’ video

Share

The Christina Aguilera comeback machine kicked into higher gear Friday morning with the online premiere of the music video for “Your Body,” the lead single from the pop star’s forthcoming “Lotus,” which is scheduled for release on Nov. 13.

“No men were harmed in the making of this video,” reads a notice at the beginning of the mayhem-filled clip. It’s a useful disclaimer, as Aguilera spends the next four minutes knocking off several of them (including one stubbled Adam Levine look-alike) in increasingly elaborate fashion. (Watch it below.)

Produced by Swedish hit-makers Max Martin and Shellback, “Your Body” layers Aguilera’s powerhouse vocals over a booming Euro-dance beat; it’s a more straightforward (and radio-ready) sound than Aguilera went for on 2010’s relatively edgy “Bionic,” which featured songs co-written by Le Tigre and M.I.A. and was widely perceived as a commercial disappointment.

That year’s ‘“Burlesque” -- an under-performing movie musical co-starring Aguilera and Cher -- didn’t provide much boost, but Aguilera regained her footing in 2011 as a judge on NBC’s “The Voice” and eventually teaming with Levine’s band Maroon 5 for the Hot 100-topping “Moves Like Jagger.”

Aguilera has said she’ll take a break from the “The Voice” next spring in order to tour behind “Lotus,” which will reportedly include collaborations with Alex Da Kid, Sia and fellow “Voice” judge Cee Lo Green.

“Your Body,” meanwhile, debuts this week in Billboard at No. 34.
