Three more shows added for Eagles stand at renovated Forum

The Eagles are adding three more shows to the group’s January stint to open the renovated Forum in Inglewood, with new dates of Jan. 22, 24 and 25 along with the previously announced performances Jan. 15, 17 and 18.

General sales of tickets to the added dates begin Oct. 12, with American Express cardholders again getting an early shot at buying seats from Oct. 7 to 11.

The extra shows are identified as “final” concerts for the veteran group’s stand at the Forum, which is undergoing a $100-million refurbishing by the Madison Square Garden Co., which completed its purchase of the long-running facility last year.

Prices for the originally announced trio of shows are listed at $53.30 to $278.10 on Ticketmaster, including service fees. A check of the ticket vendor’s website at midday Monday indicated that the regular seats for the opening night show are virtually sold out, with some scattered individual tickets still available. Some Platinum level tickets, priced at $499 to $1,795, also were still available.

This round of tickets does not offer the “fan invitation” element of the initial batch of shows, which gave fans who registered online at the Eagles website the chance to receive an invitation to buy tickets ahead of even the American Express cardholder on-sale date.

The Forum was the primary venue for arena pop music concerts in Southern California from its opening in 1968 until Staples Center opened in 1999. It has hosted concerts only sporadically in recent years under its ownership by the Faithful Central Bible Church, which sold the building to Madison Square Garden Co.

Earlier this month, Eagles manager Irving Azoff and MSG announced a new joint partnership that will involve artist management, music publishing, TV production and live event branding. Azoff had previously described himself as “chief cheerleader” of MSG’s effort to return the Forum to a place of prominence on the Southern California live entertainment scene.

MSG is investing $125 million for up to 50% ownership in the new entity. Azoff also currently manages Christina Aguilera, Van Halen, Steely Dan and Fleetwood Mac’s Lindsey Buckingham.
