Foo Fighters get help from Heart on ‘Letterman’

“Zac Brown. Black Sabbath. Foo Fighters. I don’t know, what do you kids want from me,” David Letterman asked his audience on Monday after Foo Fighters pulled out a cover of Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs” alongside Zac Brown.

The unlikely collaboration kicked off Foo Fighters’ weeklong residency on the “Late Show With David Letterman,” which teases the band’s upcoming HBO musical travelogue “Sonic Highways.”

On Tuesday, the band pulled out yet another surprise --this time calling on Heart’s Ann and Nancy Wilson.

Grohl mostly took a backseat to let the Wilson sisters breeze through a rendition of “Kick It Out.”

Directed by Grohl, “Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways” follows the band traveling to a different city in America and working with native artists to produce a track.

The premiere episode is anchored in Chicago, and episodes will also be set in Austin, Texas; Los Angeles; Nashville; New Orleans; New York; Seattle; and Washington. Brown will appear in the Nashville episode.

The songs will make up the band’s forthcoming album, also titled “Sonic Highways,” set for release on Nov. 10.
