ILoveMakonnen sets first headline tour

Share

Clubs across America, get ready to expect bigger crowds on Tuesdays (and, presumably, any other day of the week): ILoveMakonnen has announced his first headline tour

The off-kilter Atlanta rapper, singer and producer released one of last year’s most compelling singles, the midweek party staple “Tuesday,” a lovely synth-trap song so loopy and memorable that it won a Drake co-sign and a video appearance. (It also got him a Grammy nomination for rap/sung collaboration).

ILoveMakonnen has since signed to Drake’s OVOSound label, and acts including Diplo, Skrillex and Rihanna are believed to be involved as guests on his forthcoming LP. Now, ILoveMakonnen is making his first steps onto the main-stage spotlight.

His tour start April 28 in New York, and hits L.A. on May 15 at the El Rey before moving on to the European festival circuit. Tickets aren’t on sale yet, but if you’re still fiending for more Drake-affiliated music after Coachella, this will be your best chance.

The singer also released a new single this morning, a DJ Carnage produced track called “I Like Tuh,” a gum-snappy and vocal-tweaking ode to casually getting rich. Seeing as it’s Tuesday, it will have to do the trick to get us turned up today.
