Restless: A woman’s placid existence is turned upside-down when her mother reveals that she was recruited as a spy for the British Secret Service during World War II in the premiere of this new mini-series (9 p.m. Sundance).

Hunted: Sam’s (Melissa George) cover is blown, and her life is in danger, but she’s unable to leave the Turner house. Patrick Malahide also stars in the season finale (10 p.m. Cinemax).

Brides of Beverly Hills: In the first of two new episodes, Renee wonders if her pal Kevin Lee, the celebrity florist, has forgotten about her (10 and 10:30 p.m. TLC).

SPECIALS

VGA Ten: Samuel L. Jackson returns to host the 10th anniversary edition of the Video Game Awards. Linkin Park and Tenacious D perform (6 and 8 p.m. Spike).

Celebrity Holiday Homes: The annual special features three “Design Star” winners doing redecorating for rich and famous. Tonight, Meg Caswell will pair up with Twisted Sister’s Dee Snider, Emily Henderson is paired with “Dancing With the Stars” vet Cheryl Burke and the most recent winner, Danielle Colding, will decorate for R&B;’s Bebe Winans (9 p.m. HGTV).

WW2 From Space: This new special ponders how a nation ranked 19th in the world’s militaries in 1939 emerged six years later as the planet’s only atomic superpower (9 p.m. History).

Back to the Wild: The story of Christopher McCandless, whose epic and tragic journey into the Alaskan wilderness was detailed in the book and film “Into the Wild,” is told in this new documentary (10 p.m. Animal Planet).

The Christmas Heart: Neighbors unite to help a boy who desperately needs a heart transplant in this 2012 TV drama starring Teri Polo and Paul Essiembre (8 p.m. Hallmark).

Sexy Baby: This new documentary from Jill Bauer and Ronna Gradus explores how the Internet has changed our attitudes toward sexuality (10 p.m. Showtime).

SPORTS

Pro basketball: The Boston Celtics visit the Philadelphia 76ers (4 p.m. ESPN); the Lakers visit the Oklahoma City Thunder (6:30 p.m. ESPN and TWSN).
