NBC to give new comedies multiple airings ahead of premieres

Share

NBC announced Thursday its plans to capitalize on the 2012 Summer Olympics — along with hits such as”America’s Got Talent, “The Voice” and”Sunday Night Football” — to launch some of its new shows.

NBC will give a sampling of its fall lineup with a commercial-free sneak preview of the Matthew Perry-starring comedy “Go On,” about a sportscaster who joins a support group, after coverage of the Summer Games on Aug. 8. Additionally, “Animal Practice,” starring “Weeds” alum Justin Kirk as a veterinarian, will air commercial-free following the closing ceremonies on Aug. 12.

The following day, the new competitive series “Stars Earns Stripes” will make its two-hour debut, followed by the advance season premiere of”Grimm”at 10 p.m.

“The NFL Kickoff Special 2012” and first game of the season take place Sept. 5. “Football Night in America” and “Sunday Night Football” return in their regular time slots on Sept. 9 to open a launch week that will see the early rollouts continue.

Sept. 10 features the premiere of the fall season of “The Voice” leading into encore episodes of “Animal Practice” and “Go On” — which seem to be the network’s biggest comedy bets. But in case that wasn’t enough, there’s the actual time-period premieres, with “Go On” at 9 p.m. on Sept. 11, followed by Ryan Murphy’s take on a family comedy, “The New Normal” — with the first episode re-airing following the season finale of “America’s Got Talent” on Sept. 13.

But using the penultimate episode of “America’s Got Talent” as a springboard, NBC will give sneak peek of “Guys With Kids.” “Animal Practice” and “Guys With Kids” will start in their regular day and time on Wednesday, Sept. 26.

Among other new NBC series for fall, the drama “Revolution” premieres Sept. 17 and the drama “Chicago Fire” debuts Oct. 10
