It was good news Monday for two of Fox’s new comedies. “Ben and Kate” and “The Mindy Project” received full-season orders after just two episodes of each series have aired.

Fox Entertainment Chairman Kevin Reilly said in a statement, “‘Ben and Kate’ and ‘The Mindy Project’ have everything we want to stand for in comedy: smart writing, hugely appealing casts and comedy that feels contemporary and real -- which is why we’re confident they will continue to build on what is already an appointment comedy night for young, influential audiences on Tuesdays.”

“Ben and Kate,” starring Dakota Johnson and Nat Faxon as brother and sister, premiered to 4.21 million viewers. “The Mindy Project,” starring former “Office” star and writer Mindy Kaling, did even better, with 4.67 million viewers.

The announcement from Fox follows the full-season pickup of three new NBC series last week: “Revolution,” “Go On” and “The New Normal.”
