“Friends With Better Lives” are hopefully not rubbing it in your face in this new sitcom. With James Van Der Beek and “Entourage’s” Kevin Connolly. 9 p.m. CBS
The documentaries “Prison Terminal: The Last Days of Private Jack Hall” and “The University of Sing Sing” offer unexpected tales of life behind bars. 9 and 9:45 p.m. HBO
It’s more tough breaks than fast breaks for players on a high school basketball team in the small Midwest town of “Medora” in this 2013 documentary on “Independent Lens.” 10 p.m. KOCE
Fred Willard and Catherine O’Hara are featured on “Inside Comedy.” Which reminds us, we need to re-watch 2003’s “A Mighty Wind.” 11 p.m. Showtime
TUESDAY
“The Story of the Jews With Simon Schama” concludes with episodes centered on the Enlightenment, the Holocaust and the founding of modern-day Israel. 8, 9 and 10 p.m. KOCE
A trio of Mystery Science Theater 3000 alums will crack wise over nature footage in a three-part “Total Riff Off.” 8, 9 and 10 p.m. National Geographic Channel

FRIDAY
The on-again/off-again procedural drama “Unforgettable” is back on. Poppy Montgomery stars. 8 p.m. CBS
Aliens may or may not be trying to abduct Keri Russell and Josh Hamilton’s kids in the 2013 thriller “Dark Skies.” 8 p.m. Showtime
“How I Met Your Mother But Then Had to Raise You Myself With Help From My Parents” — better known as “Raising Hope” — also wraps its run. 9 and 9:30 p.m. Fox
James Naughton sings the songs of Randy Newman on “Live From Lincoln Center.” But since that venue is in NYC, don’t expect to hear “I Love L.A.” 9 p.m. KOCE
