FX, FXX announce premiere dates of ‘The Strain,’ ‘Wilfred,’ more

FX and FXX have announced the premiere dates of their summer series, including the debut of the highly anticipated “The Strain” and the return of “The Bridge.”

“Tyrant” will kick off the summer slate on June 24 at 10 p.m on FX. The series is about an unassuming American family who gets caught up in the workings of a turbulent Middle Eastern nation. The drama comes from producer Howard Gordon (“Homeland”) and stars Adam Rayner, Jennifer Finnigan and Ashraf Barhom.

“Wilfred” will retun for its fourth and final season on June 25 on FXX. The comedy stars Elijah Wood as a young man who has a bizarre relationship with his “dog,” Wilfred (Jason Gann).

Returning for a second season is “The Bridge,” which will launch July 9 on FX. The drama stars Diane Kruger and Demian Bichir as two mismatched detectives from opposite sides of the U.S.-Mexico border.

The highly anticipated “The Strain” debuts July 13 on FX. The series, an adaptation of the vampire novels from Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan, is about a team of scientists investigating a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient strain of vampirism. Del Toro and Hogan are executive producers, and Del Toro directed the pilot.

“Marred” is a new comedy starring Nat Faxon and Judy Greer as a couple “miserably in love.” The series premieres July 17 on FX.

“You’re the Worst” is another comedy, about two toxic, self-destructive people who fall in love despite themselves and try to start a relationship. The comedy premiering July 17 on FX stars Aya Cash and Chris Geere.
