Gilt City’s annual warehouse sale: super deals on designer duds

The public can get a taste of shopping at Gilt City this week, when the members-only Web shopping and deal site throws its annual giant warehouse sale in L.A.

Organizers are touting it as the biggest Gilt City warehouse sale yet, with discounts of up to 90% on fashion for men, women and children, as well as home décor. Examples of typical deals include a Vera Wang printed satin dress, originally $1,095, on sale for $110; a Helmut Lang jacket (shown here), originally $795, for $80; a Zac Posen silk pleated dress, originally $1,750, for $200; and Missoni ankle-tie espadrille sandals, originally $324, for $35.

The sale will be at Siren Studios, 1050 N. Orange Drive, Los Angeles. Attendance is divided into time periods, and tickets are required. They can be purchased on giltcity.com/los-angeles and cost $10 for any one of the Saturday sessions, which are scheduled in the morning from 9 to 11, afternoon from 1 to 3, and late afternoon from 3 to 5. (A Friday night session has already sold out.)

Payment is by credit card only, and all coats and bags must be checked at the entrance.

Events

The Helms Design District Vintage Boutique returns from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Lightspace Studio, where a number of vendors are to sell women’s classic, repurposed and vintage clothing, jewelry and other items. The event is sponsored by Clever Vintage Clothing five times a year. Entry is $5, but free or discounted tickets may be available at Eventbrite, with the price determined by how far in advance you buy. Lightspace Studio is at 8755 Washington Blvd., Culver City.

Trunk shows

Cynthia Vincent is scheduled to make an appearance at a trunk show at Dash featuring her summer 2013 collection and a preview of the fall collection. The event is set for 7:30 p.m. Thursday at 8420 Melrose Ave., West Hollywood. Desserts and Champagne will be available along with 20% off Cynthia Vincent merchandise and 10% off other items in the store.

Sample sales

Show Me Your Mumu and Fresco Towels plan a sample sale from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at 2320 Abbot Kinney, Venice.

Pop-up

Self Edge is throwing a party from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday to celebrate its monthlong PF Flyers pop-up shop. The shop showcases men’s and women’s styles of the iconic sneaker brand, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary, including the Sumfun – a reissue of a style from 1947. Complimentary drinks will be served and a DJ set is to be performed by PF Flyer’s brand ambassador Alyasha Owerka-Moore. The pop-up will be open from noon to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday from June 7 through July 7 at denim purveyor Self Edge, 144 N. La Brea Ave., Los Angeles.

Openings

Klein Epstein & Parker, which specializes in made-to-measure, individualized clothing for men, has opened a store in Orange County. At K.E.P, customers can choose everything from the pattern to the fabric, to the fit, to the buttons for a truly customized wardrobe. The new shop is at 2930 Bristol St., Ste. 108, Costa Mesa. It’s open from 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Phone (714) 668-9008.

The Bulgari store at South Coast Plaza is scheduled to reopen Thursday after a three-month renovation. The new space is described as a play of shapes and chromatic patterns, with a marble and concrete floor and giant chandelier made of of 4,700 Murano “Giogali” glass elements. Two new jewelry collections will make their debut at the store as it reopens. The Bulgari Cocktail Collection includes colorful, playful earrings and rings combining turquoise and mother-of-pearl with diamonds, cabochon amethyst, peridots and rubellites. The Graffiti Collection is a contemporary group of pieces in pink gold with mother-of-pearl and pave diamonds. The store is on Level One in the Nordstrom wing at South Coast Plaza, 3333 Bristol St., Costa Mesa.
