Calypso
A little bit of St. Bart’s lands in Orange County with the opening of Calypso’s breezy boutique. Designer Christiane Celle began selling her cover-ups and sweet dresses in a tiny shop on the island in 1993. Now her line of summer fashions that hint of India, Morocco and Celle’s native France are available across the U.S. and Europe. Soma Intimates
The crew at Soma Intimates is willing to bet that you if you’re wearing a bra, it’s probably the wrong size. “More than 80 percent,” says Marcela Trejo, a sales associate at the new store in Manhattan Village. The 600-square-foot shop promises to measure you, size you and set you up in less than 45 minutes. Try out their T-shirt bras ($42), microfiber “Fabulous Tanks” ($29), and cotton spandex yoga pants ($38). Just don’t get overwhelmed by the sheer tonnage of cozy basics, lingerie and loungewear. 3200 N. July 6 and 7: The shops at the Montage resort in Laguna Beach are offering a little one-on-one with the designers of La Chica Chic and D.L. & Co. Cristiane Valdez of La Chica Chic, the Brazilian-made handbag, jewelry and accessories line, is known for bold embellishment and materials such suede, velvet and South American crystals. Douglas Little is the decidedly gothic, top-hat-wearing creative force behind D.L. & Co. You can sip Champagne and shop for Valdez’s purses or Little’s high-end luxe candles, which are made from his collection of rare oils and are paraffin-free.
