Fodada sponsors free self-defense classes for women

Fodada, a men’s clothing company geared toward active dads, is doing something to protect the women in their lives. On Nov. 3, the company is hosting what it’s calling the First Annual Fodada International Women’s Self-Defense Day, offering free two-hour self-defense classes for women and teens ages 13 and over at participating gyms and martial arts schools around the world, including quite a few in Southern California. Trunk Shows

Jewelry designer Lecil Henderson of the Henderson Collection is scheduled to make an appearance from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday at Sarah Leonard Jewelers, 1055 Westwood Blvd. in Westwood Village. Henderson is known for designs crafted in 18-karat black, blue and brown gold created from special alloys as well as for enamel jewelry in an array of hues.

Shoe label Stuart Weitzman plans to showcase styles for spring 2013 in a trunk show from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Stuart Weitzman store at South Coast Plaza, 3333 Bristol St., Costa Mesa.

Events

H&M; is hosting a children’s event from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the store at 8500 Beverly Blvd., Los Angeles. The event is to include snacks, face painting and arts and crafts for kids. Hello Kitty is having a one day pop-up event to celebrate the release of the new book “Hello Kitty, Hello Art.” The event, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Known Gallery, is to include a book signing and art show featuring works inspired by the Kitty and other Sanrio characters. The Known Gallery is at 441 N. Fairfax Ave., Los Angeles.

Openings

Fossil plans to open a new accessories store in Canoga Park on Monday, with a grand opening “housewarming” featuring a tin-stamping station and special promotions planned for 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Oct. 25. The store is at 6600 Topanga Canyon Blvd.
