Guise introduces Tavat eyewear with sun protection

The Guise Archives Eyewear Co. is introducing Pasadena-designed, Italian-made Tavat Eyewear with a special price of $100 off on Sunday. The collection features “Melanin” lenses to protect eyes from the sun, plus a number of other technological features. Tavat’s design team was led by the renowned late professor Norman Schureman of the Art Center School of Design in Pasadena. Guise is at 7928 Melrose Ave., Los Angeles. Openings

L’Occitane, famous for using inspirations from Provence in its line of skin, hair and fragrance products, plans to open four boutiques in the area over the next couple of months. The first, at Hollywood & Highland, is to open Thursday, and it will be followed later in the year – specific dates to be announced – by boutiques at the Beverly Center, Plaza El Segundo and The Shops at Mission Viejo. Hollywood and Highland is at 6801 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood. Shopping center hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.

Fred Segal Santa Monica is opening Ziba Beauty’s The Art of Threading Studio in its NewBeauty space beginning Thursday. The eyebrow-threading specialist will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. The store is at 500 Broadway, Santa Monica.

Brazilian sunglass brand Chilli Beans has opened a new flagship store at Hollywood & Highland. Store hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.

Events

The Craft & Folk Art Museum Los Angeles plans to host a book-signing for designer and author Mark Montano from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. The book, “The B-- A-- Book of Bling,” is the latest in his series of do-it-yourself craft books. It contains more than 150 projects suitable for beginners or expert crafters, including head bands, jewelry, shoe clips and other bling. The event will include live music, craft-making and giveaways.
