A lot happened while we were ringing in the new year over the last few days.
On Saturday, Kanye West announced during a concert that he and Kim Kardashian are expecting a child, and she later blogged of her joy. No marriage is pending, however, because she is still finalizing her divorce from Kris Humphries. [People]
On New Year’s Eve, the happy couple appeared together at a party in Las Vegas and Kim showed off her new little baby bump in a form-fitting, peekaboo, black lace Julien Macdonald evening gown. (Kardashian is among the most watched stars in the fashion world, and it should be interesting to compare and contrast her pregnancy style with that of the Duchess of Cambridge.) [People]
Meanwhile, Hugh Hefner, 86, married his runaway bride, Crystal Harris, 26, on New Year’s Eve at the Playboy mansion. Harris had famously broken their engagement five days ahead of the lavish wedding they had planned to have in June 2011, but Hef won her back. She wore a strapless mermaid gown in pink rosette, and the groom donned a tux (instead of his famous pajamas). [New York Daily News]
News also broke that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were married on Christmas Day at Donna Karan’s compound in the Turks and Caicos Islands. But we don’t know if Karan designed the wedding dress. [The Cut]
Carly Rae Jepsen looked terrific performing in Times Square on New Year’s Eve, but why wasn’t she shivering in her sheer black crop top, swirling maxi skirt and fingerless gloves? Because she was wearing long johns under the skirt, she tweeted later. [The Cut]
Fashion designer Stella McCartney was named an officer of the Order of the British Empire at the end of a year in which she dressed her country’s Olympics team and was named fashion designer of the year at the British Fashion Awards. [WWD]
