Food festivals to fill your summer weekends

Summer is almost here, which means that food festival season is upon us. Here is a chronological list of some of Los Angeles’ summer food events.

Zoo Brew: The Santa Barbara Zoo’s fourth annual Zoo Brew on Saturday features beer tastings from a herd of breweries. The ticket includes zoo admissions and unlimited tastings from 3 to 6 p.m. 500 Niños Drive, Santa Barbara, (805) 962-5339.

Casa Pacifica Food and Wine Festival: This event, Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. at the California State University Channel Islands campus, hosts local wineries, breweries, restaurants, live entertainment and the largest silent auction in Ventura County. The proceeds will benefit Casa Pacifica Centers of Children and Families, a crisis-care and treatment facility for abused and at-risk children in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties. LA WineFest: On June 8-9, wander through this festival, taste more than 500 international wines, beers, and spirits, and watch local celebrity chef demos, live entertainment, and food seminars. A portion of the proceeds will be going the Food Forward. 5300 Melrose Ave, Hollywood.

Malibu Beer Festival: Hosted by the Malibu Inn on June 8 from 1 to 5 p.m., this all-you-can-drink festival looks out onto the Malibu Pier. 22969 Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu, (310) 456-1160.

626 Night Market: The largest Asian night market in America will be hosting three weekends of markets this summer with more than 150 vendors, live musical acts, artists, films, and games. Join the 626 area code at Santa Anita Race Track on June 8-9, July 6-7, and Aug. 3-4 from 4 p.m. until midnight. 285 W. Huntington Dr, Arcadia.

Chinatown Summer Nights: Described as a “part food event, part summer party,” this summer’s three Chinatown Summer Nights on June 15, July 20 and Aug. 17, will have food trucks, cooking demonstrations, a beer garden, hands-on cultural activities, and live music and dancing from 5 p.m. to midnight. 943-951 North Broadway, Los Angeles.

Cheers: L.A.’s Wine, Spirits, Beer, and Food Festival: This fund-raising event, June 22 at Fairplex in Pomona, is complete with wine, spirits, beer, olive oil tastings, food trucks, silent auction, and dancing to benefit The Learning Centers at Fairplex. 1101 W. Eat. Drink. Play. Wine Festival: At the Santa Monica Pier June 23 from 5 to 9 p.m., festival attendees can try hundreds of wines while overlooking the scenic Pacific Ocean. Santa Monica Pier, Santa Monica, (310) 902-6955.

L.A. Street Food Fest: On June 29, you can enter this all-you-can-eat-or-drink street food paradise. There will be dozens of participating food carts, trucks, and restaurants; two beer gardens and four bars; live bands, and free parking. The Rose Bowl, Pasadena.

Oxnard Salsa Festival: From July 27-28, this festival celebrates all things salsa, the food, the music, and the dance, with salsa performances, a salsa tasting tent, salsa contest, and the Salsa Dash. Plaza Park, Oxnard.

Ultimate BeerFest: This craft-beer tasting festival will be serving more than 60 beers for you to try on Aug. 24. Moreover, VIP ticket holders will get a chance to vote for the best brew in the beer competition. 1201 S. Figueroa St., Los Angeles, (866) 490-3665.
