‘Summer Tastes’ at Jar: Chef Suzanne Tracht and her team are offering “Summer Tastes” at Jar, a three-course menu of seasonal eats. The menu, priced at $40 per person, will change each month and will be available nightly. The latest “Summer Taste” menu includes farmers market summer lettuces with a cherry thyme vinaigrette, cedar smoked wild salmon, pot roast with caramelized onions and horseradish, and peach cobbler. ‘Dead Chefs’: Chef Micah Wexler, formerly of Mezze, is gearing up for his second round of dinners to be held at Umamicatessen’s the Residency, starting Thursday. Wexler’s “Dead Chefs” series will pay tribute to culinary maestros of the past with each dinner celebrating the work of chefs such as Marie Antoine Careme, Sylvia Woods, Julia Child and Santi Santamaria. Border Grill goes Oaxacan: Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger’s Border Grill in Santa Monica will be hosting its first mescal dinner, featuring Del Maguey Single Village Mezcal, next month. Executive chef Alex Moreno will prepare a multi-course dinner, inspired by the Southeastern region of Mexico, to be served alongside a slew of mescal drinks on July 9.
