It’s time to upgrade the Dodger Dog; we need your ideas

Share

The Los Angeles Dodgers are riding a hot streak such as has been rarely seen in Major League Baseball. But as the playoffs begin, we have to ask: Doesn’t the team deserve a hot dog worthy of its accomplishments?

Let’s face it, the Dodger Dog, iconic though it might be, is a culinary disaster. It is a stain on Los Angeles’ reputation as one of the best eating cities in the world.

Yet it’s like our version of weather -- something everybody discusses but nobody does anything about.

Not any more. Our Chris Erskine has some suggestions for revamping the Dodger Dog coming in this week’s Saturday section, and if you follow Erskine, you can imagine what they might be like. Let’s just say: Digestion will be threatened.

So maybe this is a case for cooler heads, such as yours. If you were able to rebuild the Dodger Dog from the ground up, what would you suggest? Grass-fed beef sausage? Sourdough bun? Artisanal relish? Tofu? On a ramen bun? With sriracha?

Why stop there? This is just for fun, so give us an outline of what your dream dog might be like. You can leave your ideas in the comments on this post, at latimes.com/dodgerdog, on our Facebook page, or via twitter @latimesfood. Got pictures? Even better, just leave them here.
