Going whole hog, Heal the Bay IPA beach clean-up, Vertical Wine Bistro dinners

Pork, pasta and pickles: Today through Sunday, This Is Not a Pop-Up is bringing in Bruce Kalman, formerly of the Churchill, and Gavin Mills of Tavern to cook a whole Niman Ranch Duroc pig for a weekend of family-style, pork-centric dinners. Products from Kalman’s new pickle business, Bruce’s Prime Pickle Co., and Mills’ charcuterie will be featured throughout the night. The prix-fixe menu includes antipasti with farmers market vegetables; handmade troffiette pasta with a pork ragu; tagliolini with tomatoes, chile and garlic; a porchetta platter with salsa verde, polenta and succotash; and a stone fruit crumble with Chantilly cream. Beach clean-up and beer: Golden Road Brewing and Simmzy’s are offering an environmentally friendly way to enjoy two favorite summer pastimes: drinking beer and hanging out on the beach. Simmzy’s is serving Golden Road’s Heal the Bay IPA and both companies will donate $20 of the proceeds from every keg to the beer’s namesake. On Saturday, Simmzy’s Manhattan Beach is joining forces with Heal the Bay for a beach cleanup. Volunteers are to meet at Simmzy’s at 8:15 a.m., clean up until noon and then can head back to the restaurant to quench their thirst with this limited-edition beer.
