Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic, All Star Mixology contest, James Beard Taste America

Veuve Clicquot is hosting the fifth annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic at Will Rogers State Park Oct. 11. VIP picnic attendees will be treated to a meal prepared by Wolfgang Puck Catering and Veuve Clicquot bubbly, as well as a seat to watch the polo match. Tickets go on sale Wednesday at www.vcpoloclassic.com. General admission tickets are $65 and do not include the picnic meal. A pair of third row VIP picnic seats is $700, a pair of second row VIP seats is $800 and a pair of front row VIP seats is $1,000. 1501 Will Rogers State Park Rd., Los Angeles.

The second annual All Star Mixology Competition to benefit Covenant House California will take place Oct. 1 at Skybar at Mondrian. Ten mixologists are expected to compete in the competition, and Alie Ward and Georgia Hardstark of “Tripping Out with Alie & Georgia” will emcee the night. Guests will be treated to small plates from Herringbone at Mondrian and craft cocktails from Corbin Vodka, Palm Bay, 209 Gin, Frederick Wildman, Western Spirits and more. The event will take place form 7 to 10 p.m. General admission tickets are $75 and available for pre-sale at www.allstarmixology.com. Proceeds from the competition will fund Covenant House California, an organization that works with homeless, at risk and trafficked youth. 8440 Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood.

The James Beard Foundation’s Taste America: “Local Flavor from Coast to Coast” will make a stop in Los Angeles Oct. 10 at Vibiana in downtown. The event will include a cocktail and tasting reception at 6:30 p.m. followed by a four-course dinner at 8 p.m. Participating chefs include Aaron Sanchez (Alegre), Nancy Silverton (Mozza Restaurant Group), Matt Molina (Mozza Restaurant Group), Neal Fraser (Red Bird, BLD), Ari Taymor (Alma) and more. Tickets are $275 or you can purchase a table for 10 people for $2,500. A portion of the evening’s proceeds will be donated to the Taste America Scholarship Fund. 214 S.
