Flamin’ Hot Cheetos taking heat in Pasadena schools

Flamin’ Hot Cheetos have become a playground favorite, but some schools in the Pasadena area are determined to keep those red fingertips at home.

The fiery snacks have been banned by several schools in the Pasadena area, including at Andrew Jackson Elementary School. If a bag is found, it will be confiscated.

The schools are citing the Cheetos’ poor nutrition as the reason behind the ban.

A single serving of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos has 11 grams of fat, 1.5 grams of saturated fat, 250 milligrams of sodium, 1 gram of protein and less than 1 gram of fiber. Not the most nutritious of snacks ... but bad enough to ban? One of the school teachers in the video above goes as far as suggesting a ban on all chips.
