Halloween 2012: Spooky cocktails, events and free doughnuts

Looking for a way to celebrate Halloween this year? If you feel like having a night out, there are plenty of restaurants and bars offering specials. Krispy Kreme is offering a free Halloween or pumpkin spice doughnut to guests who visit a participating store on Oct. 31 in a costume. One doughnut per person, no purchase necessary and valid while supplies last. Visit KrispyKreme.com for more details.

California Pizza Kitchen is celebrating by giving kids age 10 and under who visit the restaurant in a costume a free CPKids meal on Oct. 31. Tart @ Farmer’s Daughter Hotel is offering free dessert to guests who visit the restaurant in costume and half off your meal if you jump into the Farmer’s Daughter hotel pool with your costume on. For a free meal, jump in the pool in your costume with your cellphone and put your name up on a board to remember your antics. Tart is also offering a witches brew punch bowl for $10. 115 S. Events and specials

Tortilla Republic is having a Halloween Fiesta on Oct. 31 with decorations, DJs, a photo booth and food and drink specials. After 7 p.m., well drinks will be $7 and dinner will be served until 9. Fig & Olive has partnered with Veuve Clicquot for a “Yellow” pre-Halloween party Oct. 27 at 10 p.m. There will be a candy bar, party favors, decoration and Veuve Clicquot bottle service starting at $76 per bottle. DJ Julien Nolan will be spinning beat, and guests dressed in the best costume can win a dinner for two at the restaurant, valued at $200. Executive chef Pascal Lorange has also created a special three-course menu for Oct. 31 from 6 to 11 p.m. for $42 per person. Wood & Vine is offering an “Offal-y Spooky” dinner on Oct. 31 from 5:30 to 10 p.m. The menu’s a la carte items include blood sausage, caramel apple, pomme puree ($16); shaved pig head with lemon ($13); deviled kidney and steak pie ($20) and more. Industriel Urban Farm Cuisine is serving up a special Halloween menu. The “meal to die for” includes a grilled bat salad made with quail ($14); raw flesh tartare with eye of newt ($14); The Headless Horseman, made with calf’s brain ravioli and tongue and cheek ragù ($19) and the Blood & Guts red berry trifle ($8). 609 S. Chipotle Mexican Grill is holding it’s nationwide Boorito fundraiser Oct. 31. Diners dressed in costumes can get a burrito, bowl, salad or order of tacos for $2 from 4 p.m. to closing. Proceeds from the fundraiser, up to $1 million, will go to benefit the Chipotle Cultivate Foundation, which supports family farmers, educators, ranchers, farmers and programs that promote sustainable practices. Bouchon Bakery Bevery Hills has introduced some spooky treats to its menu for the season. It will serve pumpkin shortbread cookies ($6 for 2); pumpkin cupcakes ($8 each); devil’s food cupcakes filled with salted caramel and chocolate butter crème ($8 each); TKO bat cookie sandwiches with sweet crème filling ($3 each). Pink Taco Sunset Strip is throwing a Sunday Funday Costume Party on Oct. 28 from 1 to 8 p.m. Halloween games, prizes and a chance to win a spa day at Burke Williams will be added to the regular weekly “Funhouse Fiesta” that happens every Sunday in the location’s second floor. The restaurant will serve bottomless mimosas until 3 p.m. and have beer pong, hula hoop contests, board games and more. Asia De Cuba at Mondrian Los Angeles has introduced a special cocktail for Halloween, the Bloody Berry Bramble ($14). Magnolia Bakery is offering an assortment of Halloween-themed cupcakes ($3.50) decorated with pumpkins, black cats, ghosts and more. El Cid restaurant has debuted new seasonal harvest cocktails and will offer them through Cyber Monday (also known as the Monday after Thanksgiving). LA Market Restaurant at the J. W Marriott hotel in downtown Los Angeles is offering a spooky version of its popular Junk Food Platter called Simon’s Spooky Sweets Junk Food Platter, made by chef Kerry Simon. The platter features a variety of snacks, including orange and purple coconut snowballs, bat and mummy cake pops, pumpkin-shaped Rice Krispies treats, frosted brownies with worms, candy corn and caramel corn parfait, Fruit Loop treats and chocolate chip cookies ($15). The Mixing Room at the hotel is also offering a trick-or-treat cocktail menu with a Candy Corn martini made with house-made candy corn-infused vodka; the Great Pumpkin, with house-infused cinnamon and cardamom Buffalo Trace bourbon; the Devil’s old fashioned; the Bloody margarita; and the Black Widow with Chambord, vodka, triple sec and black licorice strings. Rock & Reilly’s will transform itself into a scene from Michael Jackson’s classic “Thriller” music video on Oct. 30. From 8 p.m. to midnight, a dance expert will show guests the routine from “Thriller.” Take a special Zombie shot and be entered to win a one-of-a-kind “Thriller” leather jacket. On Oct. 31, the pub will host a best worst costume contest. Come dressed in your worst costume for a chance to win a $250 bar tab. Vintage Enotecta is having its third-annual Halloween candy and wine tasting event Friday, Saturday and on Halloween from 7 p.m. to closing. Classic Halloween candy will be paired with boutique wines. Some of the pairings include Sour Patch Kids and Almond Joy with Renardat-Fâche “Cerdon du Bugey” Rosé, and Heath Bar & Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup with Pedro Ximenez sherry. Cecconi’s is offering bar director Chris Ojeda’s fall cocktails, paired with five seasonal truffles from Compartes’ Chocolatier Jonathan Grahm. The event will run from 7 to 10 p.m. Oct. 31. Cocktails will include the Hot Pumpkin Buttered Rum made with Appleton VX rum and maple pumpkin butter and honey; the Fari and Warmer Cocktail No. 2 with JM Rhum VSOP and house-made curaçao and Montenegro Amaro; 50/50 cocktail with Bombay London dry gin and Martini Bianco. Cecconi’s will serve Grahm’s pumpkin, pecan pie, Mexican hot chocolate, olive oil rosemary and fleur de sel caramel truffles.
