Get your groove on during a free monthly dance class outdoors at the Wallis Annenberg Center for Performing Arts called Dance Sundays With Debbie Allen & Friends.

The program, which takes place from noon to 2 p.m. on the second Sunday of every month, was launched in October and is to run through August. Each class features a different style of dance, including hip-hop, flamenco, tango and salsa.

“Break the Floor Hip-Hop” is coming this Sunday in a class led by Debbie Allen Dance Academy instructor Chantel Heath. Allen was at last month’s session but is not confirmed for this month. The next class she will lead will be a salsa class on April 9. All skill levels and age groups are invited and encouraged to participate. No RSVP is necessary.

Allen is known for her investment in education and the community. The Emmy award-winning actress, dancer and choreographer played dance teacher Lydia Grant on the 1980s television show “Fame,” for which she also served as lead choreographer. She runs the Debbie Allen Dance Academy in Baldwin Hills.

Dance Sundays turned into a regular fixture after 200 dance lovers showed up at a similar one-off event last season.
