Carrot Top

Carrot Top — Las Vegas’ gag meister extraordinaire — is still going strong at Luxor, where he’s using his trademark trunk o’ props to make hilarious fun of modern life.

An empty 12-pack of Bud? That’s a redneck baby carrier. A gas pump with a mirror? That’s so you can see yourself getting screwed right there at the pump.

It all happens at a manic pace. On stage are trunks full of contraptions put together with baling wire and duct tape. Carrot Top pulls out one after another and fires off one-liners.

Some gags are patently ridiculous (fake rubber feet so you don’t have to take your shoes off at the airport), others are raunchy and politically incorrect. But Carrot Top cultivates such a charmingly goofy persona that you’re hard pressed to find any mean-spiritedness.

Anyway, Carrot Top doesn’t make himself out to be a stand-up standout. After a groan-inducing gag, he spins around to face the audience with feigned indignation: “Hey! Some of this stuff is just filler. It can’t be all — wow!”
