China energy: In the June 1 Section A, an article about Chinese coal technology incorrectly identified Frank Umbach as associate director of the European Center for Energy and Resource Security. He formerly held that title, but is now research director at the center.

Compton election: A June 4 article in the California section about the mayor’s election in Compton said that political consultant Kerman Maddox grew up in that city. He grew up in Los Angeles.
