Aircraft carrier basketball: A photo caption in the Nov. 11 Sports section identified Naval officer Sam Perez as a Vice Admiral. He is a Rear Admiral. In the article leading up to the North Carolina-Michigan State basketball game that accompanied the photo, the length of the USS Carl Vinson was given as 1,094 feet. It is 1,092 feet.

Overrated/Underrated: An item in the Overrated/Underrated column in the Nov. 13 Calendar section about Christmas albums referred to a Bing Crosby duet with David Bowie on the song “White Christmas.” The two did not team up on that song. They combined to sing “The Little Drummer Boy” arranged with “Peace on Earth.” Also, the item suggested that the compilation series “A Very Special Christmas” began in the 1990s. The series’ first volume was issued in 1987, with six subsequent collections periodically released through 2009.

Thanksgiving travel: In the Business pages in the Nov. 14 Section A, a Travel Briefcase item about a projection that Los Angeles International Airport will be the busiest airport for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend said that Ontario International Airport served 93,717 passengers in 2010, down 36% from 2007. In fact, the airport served 4,808,421 passengers last year, down 33% from 2007.

Kardashian divorce: An article in the Nov. 14 Calendar section about the potential economic ramifications of the divorce of Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries on the Kardashian brand identified the title of Kardashian family matriarch Kris Jenner’s new memoir as “Kris Kardashian … and All Things Kardashian.” The correct title is “Kris Jenner … and All Things Kardashian.”

Imported water’s energy costs: An article in the Nov. 14 LATExtra section about the energy used to import water to Southern California identified a senior assistant general manager of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power as Jim McDaniels. His last name is McDaniel.

11/11/11: An article in the Nov. 11 LATExtra section examining whether there is a special meaning to the palindromic date said: “To mathematicians, 11-11-11 is a prime number — nice, even useful, but still just a number.” While 11 is a prime number, the combined 111,111 is not.

Evelyn Lauder: In the Nov. 14 LATExtra section, a brief obituary of philanthropist Evelyn Lauder, who helped create the pink ribbon symbol for breast cancer awareness, said that the Evelyn H. Lauder Breast Center at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City opened in 2009. It opened in 1992 and expanded in 2009.
