Crossword puzzle: The Crossword in the June 28 Calendar section, along with the puzzle solution that appeared in the June 29 Calendar section, contained a potentially offensive clue and answer. The clue for 32-Down was “Shylock, e.g.” The answer was “Jew.” Tribune Media Services, which distributes the puzzle, has apologized and said the puzzle “should not have been distributed with that clue.” TMS added that it “is very sensitive to racial or cultural references in the content we distribute and regret that this slipped through.”

Gay marriage: In the June 29 LATExtra section, an article about gay couples’ rush to get married said that the Orange County Clerk would open offices Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to issue marriage license for same-sex couples. In fact, Clerk-Recorder Hugh Nguyen added a special Saturday date on July 27 to issue licenses. The county will be prepared to issue same-sex licenses weekdays at its normal businesses hours, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the main offices in Santa Ana, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at branch offices.

Bert Stern: In the June 29 LATExtra section, the obituary of photographer Bert Stern, known for his portraits of Marilyn Monroe, said that he directed “Jazz on a Summer’s Day,” a documentary about the Newport Jazz Festival. He co-directed it, with Aram Avakian.

“Fruitvale Station”: In the June 28 Section A, an article on “Fruitvale Station,” an upcoming movie about the shooting death of Oscar Grant III at an Oakland BART station, gave the film’s release date as July 26. While that is the date of the its nationwide opening, the film will premiere in New York and Los Angeles on July 12.

Skating rink: In the June 23 California section, an article about the closure of the World on Wheels roller skating rink in Mid-City said that the rink was the last in the city of Los Angeles. There is a rink in Northridge, which is also in the city of Los Angeles.
