Earthquake: 3.6 quake strikes near West Bishop, Calif.

A shallow magnitude 3.6 earthquake was reported Friday afternoon six miles from West Bishop, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 2:08 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 7.5 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 70 miles from Sanger, Calif., 71 miles from Reedley, Calif., 71 miles from Clovis, Calif., and 139 miles from Carson City, Nev.

In the past 10 days, there has been one earthquake magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
