Earthquake: 3.2 quake strikes near Isla Vista, Calif.

A shallow magnitude 3.2 earthquake was reported Wednesday evening three miles from Isla Vista, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 8:19 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 6.2 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was five miles from Goleta, Calif., 12 miles from Santa Barbara, 22 miles from Carpinteria and 298 miles from Sacramento.

In the past 10 days, there has been one earthquake magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
