A shallow magnitude 3.1 earthquake was reported Thursday morning 12 miles from Bear Valley Springs, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 6:19 a.m. PDT at a depth of 5.0 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 15 miles from Tehachapi.

In the past 10 days, there have been no earthquakes magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
