Man faces prison for trying to hire hit man to kill model wife
A 53-year-old Canyon Country businessman pleaded no contest Friday to trying to hire a hit man to kill his wife, prosecutors said.
In a plea deal, Dino Guglielmelli, former owner of natural supplement company Creation’s Garden, faces nine years in prison for the attempted murder of his wife, former model Monica Olsen, when he’s sentenced on June 18, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
Guglielmelli approached a business associate asking him to kill his wife for $80,000, Deputy Dist. Atty. Emily Cole said. On Oct. 1, 2013, the business associate secretly recorded a conversation in which Guglielmelli arranged the killing, according to the district attorney’s office.
A sentencing hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, Cole said.
Guglielmelli and Olsen married in 2004, KABC-TV reported.
Nine years later, prosecutors say, the couple were in a divorce battle fighting over money and custody of their children.
Olsen, 32, is a former runway model, was the inspiration for a comic book heroine and now has a skin care line.
On a recording played at the preliminary hearing, Guglielmelli was asked how their two daughters were going to be after their mother was dead. According to prosecutors, Guglielmelli said: “They’re totally fine. All they need is their dad.”
