Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a 14-year-old girl who was shot multiple times Saturday night in Compton in what authorities believe was a gang-related shooting, authorities said.

Deputies responded to a call of gunshots about 10:10 p.m. at the corner of Elm and Alameda streets and discovered the girl lying in the street, according to a statement from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
