Irvine police say man posed as woman on Craigslist to lure teen boys
A Tustin man arrested for allegedly posting an ad on Craigslist in which he attempted to lure teenage boys by pretending to be a woman was released Saturday from jail, according to authorities.
Sherwin Ngo, 34, posted bond a day after he was arrested by Irvine police, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department website.
The mother of one of the alleged victims, a 15-year-old boy, found explicit emails on her son’s computer, according to an Irvine Police Department news release. A 16-year-old from Mission Viejo was identified as a second victim, according to police.
Irvine Police Cmdr. Julia Engen said he arrested on suspicion of a lewd act on one of the teens and an attempted lewd act on the other.
Detectives suspect there may be additional victims based on emails discovered during a search of Ngo’s online accounts.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Irvine Police Department at (949) 724-7200.
