Authorities from across Los Angeles County have arrested 2,268 people for driving under the influence during the holiday season, according to a report released Thursday.

The drunk-driving crackdown involved about 100 law enforcement agencies and stretched from Dec. 13 to New Year’s Day, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The 2,268 arrests is up 100 from a year ago when authorities conducted a similar campaign for 19 days. This year, officers made arrests at sobriety checkpoints, special saturation patrols and on routine patrols in the county over the 20-day span.

In the statement, officials called the number of arrests “significant.”

Authorities plan to conduct additional “Avoid the 100” DUI programs during Super Bowl Sunday in February and again for St Patrick’s Day in March.
