Gunman flees with $14 after shooting man in Whittier

Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies are searching for a gunman who shot a man during an armed robbery in the Whittier area around 1 a.m. Friday, authorities said.

The victim, a man in his 60s, was shot in the forearm as he sat in a parked car on the 11500 block of Perkins Avenue, when a gunman in a black ski mask approached and demanded money, according to City News Service.

The victim’s wound was a clean “through and through” shot and he is in stable condition, said Sgt. Dee Gallego of the Los Angeles County sheriff’s Pico Rivera Station.

Gallego said that she did not know if anyone else was in the car. The gunman obtained $14 during the robbery, then fled, Gallego said.
