Two pedestrians killed in hit-and-run crashes along Ventura Boulevard late Saturday night and early Sunday morning have been identified.
Michael Spencer Bonanomi, 35, of Santa Monica was hit as he crossed Ventura Boulevard east of Fairway Avenue in Studio City late Saturday night, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office. He died at the scene.
Police are still searching for the driver of the car, believed to be a white Mercedes CLS with black paper license plates with “Encino” in yellow writing. The vehicle sustained major damage to its front end, officials said.
Ernesto Melendez, 23, died after a car plowed into the open door of his Ford Focus near a valet stand on Ventura Boulevard west of Kester Avenue early Sunday morning. He died at a hospital Sunday afternoon.
In that case, police are seeking information about the driver of a newer-model silver Hyundai sedan.
Anyone with information about either of the incidents should call the LAPD’s Valley Traffic Division at (818) 644-8037.
