L.A. heat wave: Expect 100 degrees inland, 90s at beaches by midweek
Forecasters are warning of extreme fire danger this week, with temperatures expected to exceed 90 degrees in most areas as gusty Santa Ana winds whip the region.
A red flag warning for the valleys and mountains of Ventura and Los Angeles counties remains in effect through Monday evening, with wind gusts of around 45 mph possible in some areas, according to the National Weather Service.
Temperatures on Monday will climb to the mid-80s at the beaches and 90s inland, and will get warmer as the week wears on, forecasters warned.
On Tuesday, daytime temperatures are expected to hit the 90s at the beaches and the upper-90s inland as Santa Ana winds continuing to create dangerous fire conditions. Wednesday will see the potential for record-breaking temperatures as the mercury rises to the mid-90s at the beaches to 102 degrees inland, according to the weather service.
Temperatures on Thursday will stick to the upper-80s at the beaches and high 90s inland before a cool-down starts on Friday.
By Saturday, temperatures will have cooled to the mid-70s at the beaches and around 80 inland, according to the weather service.
