Oversized load hits overpass, closes 710 connector to 91 Freeway

The transition road connecting the 710 and eastbound 91 freeways was closed through the Tuesday morning rush hour after a big rig carrying an oversized load of metal struck an overpass, the California Highway Patrol said.
The big rig was carrying the load northbound on the 710 and transitioning to the eastbound 91 when the crash occurred about 3:45 a.m., blocking all lanes. No injuries were reported.
Cleanup crews dispatched a heavy-duty crane to clear the wreckage, but the transition road wasn’t reopen until at around 9:45 a.m., according to CHP logs.
The two highways are frequently used by big rigs moving containers between the Inland Empire and the Port of Long Beach.
