LAPD seeks public’s help in slaying of man riding scooter in Hollywood

LAPD homicide detectives investigating the death of a man attacked while riding a scooter in Hollywood are asking for the public’s help in identifying his assailant.

Louie Rodriguez, 54, was attacked about 12:40 a.m. Sept. 21 near Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue, the LAPD said.

He was riding his motorized scooter after attending the annual Hollywood Music Festival when he was punched by a man, police said, causing him to fall backward and hit his head.

The suspect left the scene on foot, authorities said. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics took Rodriguez to a nearby hospital. He died Monday as a result of his injuries.

The motive for the attack is unknown. Authorities are looking for a man believed to be about 23 years old, 6 feet tall with a lean build, and ear expanders in both ears.
